Gwendolyn Lorraine Kelly, 88, of Fort Calhoun, died Feb. 27, 2007.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun, with interment in the Catholic Cemetery at Blair. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, at the church with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Gwendolyn Lorraine Raymond was born Dec. 29, 1918, in Louisville to James Franklin and Lillian (Cox) Raymond.

On July 16, 1938, she married Doyal Francis Holmon, who died in 1950. On Aug. 16, 1958, she married Daniel Francis Kelly of rural Fort Calhoun.

Mrs. Kelly was known for her devotion to her family, her ability to rock a baby, put on dinner for a farm crew, and make the path easier for all who knew her. Her faith and hospitality were passed on to everyone who entered her life.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Doyal Conrad and Angela Holmon of Escondito, Calif.; daughters, Carolyn Bernice Abels and husband, Mike, of Cambridge and Wendy Kelly-Hooyboer and husband, Jim, of Fort Calhoun; four grandchildren and their families; eight great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Marsh of Minnesota, and Joy and Marvin Lauver of Iowa, brother and sister-in-law, David and Shirley Raymond of Florida; nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Kelly; brothers, James Jr. and Sidney Raymond; sisters, Pat Gerhig and Marilyn Frary.

Memorials are suggested to the Fort Calhoun Rescue Squad and the Ponca Hills Volunteer Fire Department.

KELLY --- Gwendolyn Lorraine Raymond Holmon, age 88. Lorraine was born on Dec. 29, 1918 to Lillian Cox and James Franklin Raymond in Louisville, NE. She peacefully entered the Kingdom of God on February 27, 2007. On July 16, 1938 she married Doyal Francis Holmon, who preceded her in death in 1950. Then on Aug. 16, 1958, she married Daniel Francis Kelly of rural Fort Calhoun, who passed in 1999. Son, Doyal Conrad Holmon and wife Angela of Escondito, CA, daughters, Carolyn Bernice Abeis and husband Mike of Cambridge, NE and Wendy Kelly-Hooyboer and husband Jim of Fort Calhoun survive her. Grandchildren are Dale Clary and wife Dawn of Fremont, NE, Melinda Hooyboer-Ballard and husband Brett, Adrienne Hooyboer, both of Austin, TX and Daniel Hooyboer, of Fort Calhoun, NE. And finally, she is survived by who she called “my greats”, her great-grandchildren, Blake, Amber, Triston and Savanah Lorraine of Fremont and Christopher, Dianna, Ben and Brittany of Austin, TX. Surviving siblings are Betty Marsh of MN, Joy Lauver and husband Marvin of IA, and brother David Raymond and wife Shirley of FL. Her brothers James Jr., and Sidney Raymond and sisters, Pat Gerhig and Marilyn Frary also preceded her in death. Many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation with the family will be Friday, March 2, 2007 from 5-7:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Calhoun with Burial at the Catholic Cemetery in Blair, NE. Memorials are suggested to Fort Calhoun rescue Squad and the Ponca Hills Volunteer Fire Department.
