Mildred “Pete” Peterson, 91

Mildred Peterson, 91, of Blair, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015,at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City with Rev. Dennis Tevis officiating. Burial was in Graceland Park Cemetery.

Mildred was born July 16, 1923, in Sioux City to Ivar and Dorothy (Carson) Brodine. She graduated from Central High School in 1941.

On July 19, 1947, she married Loren Peterson after he returned from military service. Together they raised two daughters, Sandy and Laurie. Loren died May 13, 2004.

Mildred was a lifelong member of the Sioux City First Covenant Church where she worked as a secretary for many years. Mildred and her husband were members of the Siouxland Rock and Gem Club for more than 30 years and enjoyed taking rock hunting trips.

After her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at St. Luke’s Hospital, delivering patient mail. She treasured time spent with family and friends.

In 2009, Mildred moved to Omaha to be closer to family. She lived there until 2014 when she moved to Blair.

Mildred is survived by two daughters: Sandy (Ron) Champlin of Omaha and Laurie (Todd) Wick of Blair; one brother, Dr. Charles Brodine of Gaithersburg, Md.; five grandsons: Dustin (Carrie) of Glenwood, Iowa, Cody (Laura) Champlin of Omaha and Ethan, Evan and Alec Wick all of Blair; and four great-grandchildren: Kelsey, Kylie, Wyatt and Wesley Champlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Loren; three brothers: Milton, Don and Bob Brodine; and two sisters: Helen Brodine and Louise Anderson.
