EMELIE MEEVES MORDHORST DIED SUNDAY, APRIL 6

Emelie Mordhorst was born on January 4, 1888, the daughter of Hans and Anna Meeves at Bennington, Nebraska. She passed away on April 6, 1975 at the Immanuel Home for the Aged. She had reached the age of 87 years, 3 months and 2 days.

On February 28, 1912, she was united in marriage to Fred A. Mordhorst at Bennington, Nebraska. To this union was born 7 children, 2 daughters and 5 sons. In February of 1962 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Most of her life was spent on a farm north of Bennington. In 1953 she and her husband retired from farming and later moved into Omaha, where she continued to live until 1971, at which time she moved into the Immanuel Home.

She was confirmed and baptized into the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington when a child. Later she transferred her membership to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Omaha.

She was preceded in death by one son, Elmer, in 1962, and by her husband Fred in 1970.

She is survived by four sons, Alfred, Edwin, and Emmet of Omaha; Walter of Harlan, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin Peetz (Dorothy) of Omaha; Mrs. Arnold Rix (Anna Marie) of Bennington; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 4 brothers.

Funeral services were held at Roeder Mortuary in Omaha at 1 p.m., April 9, with Rev. Zellmer of Immanuel Church officiating. Interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lester Rix, Bill Hinner, Chester Auch, Russell Reed, Eggert Ehlers, and John Johnson.
