Deborah K. Nelson, 56, of Blair, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at Good Shepherd Home in Blair after a long battle with cancer.

A Celebration of her Life will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

Deborah Kay Tichota was born Oct. 26, 1958, to Robert J. and Jennie L. Tichota in Blair.

Debbie graduated from Blair High School in 1977.

She married Randall Nelson on June 19, 1982.

She worked in accounting for Hinky Dinky Stores in Blair and Fremont for 22 years, and then received an associate degree in accounting at age 42. Debbie then worked for Elan Home Furnishings, and Doll Construction in Omaha.

Debbie enjoyed playing softball and golf and also boating on the Missouri River. She was a 4-H leader, youth group leader at Grace Church and she helped organize funding for campers to attend Camp Fontanelle. She made sure that every kid had an opportunity to attend camp. She also served as secretary/treasurer at Grace Church for seven years and was a member of the administrative board and L.O.E.

Debbie was also very active in her daughters' lives coaching volleyball and coordinating dance activities, and made many wonderful friends traveling to volleyball tournaments in several states. She also loved to go camping and took many “girl trips" to the lakes.

Debbie is survived by husband Randall Nelson of Blair; daughters: Katarina Kay Nelson of Minneapolis, Minn., and Natalie Ann Nelson of Blair; her parents, Robert and Jennie Tichota; sisters: Marian (Ernie) Porter of Nevis, Minn., and Brenda (Pat) Jenny of Blair; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Raymond and Mildred Tichota and Marion "Mac" and Jennie B. McMullin; a sister, Jennie Lynn Tichota; cousin Monte K. Lund; and nephew Brett Philip Nelson.

Debbie had an unwavering belief in angels, loved the Christmas season and she had a close personal relationship with Jesus.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts of love to Camp Fontanelle or Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard.
