Marian Melissa Schaible, 86, of Blair, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at her home with family at her side.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb.7, at First United Methodist Church in Blair.

Marian Melissa Schaible was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Kingston, N.Y., to Harley and Mary Amelia Palen.

She graduated from Kingston High School in 1946 and then went to Hope College in Holland, Mich., to study the sciences. There she met Harold E. Schaible and they were married Sept. 12, 1947.

She spent her childhood and teen years leading trail rides for her father’s horse stable in upstate New York. Her lifelong drive for education made her the first in her family to attend college.

She spent her adult life as a dedicated minister’s wife, sharing kindness and grace with multiple congregations on the East Coast and in the Midwest. She was also active in the communities with women’s church groups. She was an EMTA on the ambulance crew in Pierce.

Blair was her favorite place, living there in the 1960s and returning upon her husband’s retirement from the UCC Church.

She is survived by her children: Melissa, Lance, Stacie and their families, her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Harold E. Schaible; her son, Jody Schaible; her parents and all of her siblings.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church Music Fund in Blair or the Country Bible Men’s Ministry.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
