ETHEL MENGEDOHT, 86

Services for Ethel Mengedoht, 86 of Fremont were Mon., Sept. 16, 1996 at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Leland Uden officiated. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery at Fontanelle.

Ethel Mengedoht was born March 9, 1910 at Fontanelle to Adolph and Julia Bieneke Schurman. She grew up in Fontanelle.

She married Arthur C. Mengedoht Feb. 20, 1935 at Fontanelle. They lived on the Mengedoht farm near Fontanelle.

In 1958, she moved into Fremont. She was employed by the veterinary practices of Dr. Lowell Huntington, then Dr. Miller and also Dr. Anderson for 21 years. She retired in 1989.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Fremont and its THEO group. She was involved in the Meals on Wheels program and was formerly a member of the Telbasta Pleasant Hour Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur on June 19, 1946 and four brothers.

She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn (Mrs. John) Syme, Woodstock, VT.; sons and their spouses, Orville and Julie, Arlington and Larry and Ruth, London, England; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a brother and sister-in-law, Kermit and Clara Schurman, Nickerson.

Pallbearers were Carroll Schurman, Randy Schafer, Jim Mengedoht, Richard Schurman, Jeremiah Shafer, and Steve Davis.

Honorary pallbearers were Mitchell Davis, Kurt Showalter, Kent Showalter and Daniel Connor.

Memorials are suggested to her church.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
