Lary G. Kment, 62

Lary G. Kment, 62, of Hooper, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Graveside services were Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Schuyler Cemetery.

Lary G. Kment was born May 31, 1943, in Columbus to Leonard and Leta (Kuhn) Kment. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1960, and served in the United States Army from 1960 and 1961, and for several years in the Reserves.

On Sept. 14, 1963, he married Sherryl Moore at the Methodist Church in Schuyler. They lived in Schuyler and Fremont before settling in Hooper.

Mr. Kment worked for the State of Nebraska and then for the Dodge County Road Department as highway superintendent for 33 years, retiring on Friday, Sept. 16.

He was a past member of the Hooper City Council and Hooper Commercial Club, was a Cater-pillar VIP, served on the State Board of Examiners for County Highway and City Street Superintendents, and was a member of the Nebraska Association of Highway Superintendents.

Mr. and Mrs. Kment loved to garden and were regulars at the farmer’s market in Fremont for the past few years. He also enjoyed cutting wood.

He is survived by his wife, Sherryl, of Hooper; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Susan Kment of Hooper and Jeff and Penny Kment of Blair; two brothers and sister-in-law, Greg and Gwen Kment of Schuyler and Norman Kment of Rogers; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
