MRS. S. E. KEMP

Funeral services for Mrs. S.E. Kemp, whose death occurred May 1, 1929 in an Omaha hospital were held from the Kemp home, Friday afternoon, May 3rd with Rev. A.F. Newell of the Congregational church officiating. Mrs. Kemp had been critically ill for about six days and had been taken to Omaha but a few days previous to her death.

An operation nearly two years ago had left her somewhat weakened but she had apparently recovered from the operation and was able to attend to her home duties most of the time.

Annie Patrick was born in Granville, Indiana January 26, 1864, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Patrick, and was married to S.E. Kemp on June 16, 1886. They came to Blair and have resided on south Walker avenue for forty-three years.

Mrs. Kemp was a real home woman and had little inclination for outside social affairs. Her family came first and last and she was supremely happy when all were at home together. She was a good neighbor and kind and loyal to her friends, an interesting companion to all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel Edward Kemp, three daughters, Portia Lucille of Blair, Mrs. Gladys Wiist of Mt. Carmel, Ill. and Mrs. Geraldine Stewart of Blair. An only son, Meredith, passed away while in the U.S. service during the World War. There remain two grandchildren, Meredith Allison Stewart and Elizabeth Ann Wiist. She is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Kilian, Blair; Mrs. Grace McKelvery, Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. C.C. Sheldon of Columbus, Neb. and Miss Bess Patrick of Omaha.

The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful testifying to the love and esteem in which she was held by all who knew her.

The out-of-town attendants at the services were Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Sheldon, Helen, Charles and Chauncey and Mrs. Mary Sheldon Nelson of Columbus, Neb., Mrs. R.M. McKelvey, Paul and Naomi and Mr. and Mrs. Glen McKelvey, all of Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. Geo. Bruse of Kamrar, Iowa, Capt. Alphonse Kilian of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, Dr. Leo. Kilian of Wakefield, Neb., Miss Bess Patrick of Omaha, Mr. O.R. Lutz of Chicago, Ill., Mr. S.A. Jonas and Mr. Ralph Little of Omaha, Mr. G.A. Erickson and Mrs. Ed Pepple of Naper, Neb.
