Eldred Kempcke, 86

Eldred Kempcke, 86, of Blair, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at First Lutheran Church in Blair, with interment in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, with family receiving friends for 6 to 8 p.m.

Eldred Kempcke was born June 9, 1916, in Blair to Paul and Elvena (Andreasen) Kempcke. He was baptized at First Lutheran Church and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. He attended Bisbee and Arlington schools.

He entered the Army in 1942. On Jan. 12, 1947, he married Irene Sorensen in Blair.

He was a farmer in the Blair area for his entire life. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, served on the church council, and also served as president. He was a 4-H leader for many years.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Cindy Kempcke of Blair, three grand-children; one great-grandchild; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Enid Kempcke of Blair, Dean and Eleanor Kempcke of Omaha, and Arthur and Marilyn Kempcke, also of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene.

Memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church and the Blair Rescue Squad.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
