Warren G. Kempcke, 85

Warren G. Kempcke, 85, of West Linn, Ore., died Feb. 1, 2009.

A memorial service was held Feb. 4 at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. His cremains will be interred in the Fort McPherson Nation Cemetery in Maxwell at a later date.

William* G. Kempcke was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Elk City. He moved to a ranch in Clearwater at the age of 13.

He entered the United States Army in 1944, serving in the 13th and 82nd Airborne Division in France during World War II, with the Glider Infantry.

He married Catherine Worstat in 1945.

He farmed in Elkhorn and Kennard, and moved to Blair in 1979.

He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, the 40 & 8, was past commander of the Kennard Legion Post, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Dennis Park; two grand-daughters; brother, Art Kempcke; and sister, Dorothy Fink.

Memorials are suggested to Emmaus Lutheran Church of Kennard.
