Alice M. Madsen, 90

Alice M. Madsen, 90, of Blair, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will follow services in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church.

Alice was born to Niel and Selma Thompson at Herman on Nov. 9, 1924.

She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church and attended regularly. She grew up in Blair, graduated from Blair High School and attended Dana College.

She was united in marriage to Albert "Bud" Madsen at First Lutheran Church on Oct. 23, 1948.

Except for the six years they lived in Redlands, Calif., the couple lived their entire lives in Blair.

She spent her life devoted to being a wife and mother. Her hobbies were sewing, embroidery and reading. Her family and friends were precious to her and she was happiest in her kitchen baking for them.

She and Albert enjoyed many years of traveling together.

Alice is survived by her sons: Steve of Bellevue and Douglas and wife Sue of Blair; daughter Tia Weis of Spokane, Wash.; daughter-in-law Shona Madsen; sisters: Nila Matzen and Gloria Jensen of Blair; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Albert "Bud" in 2008; son Mark in 2011; brothers: Elton "E.T.", Lowell and Harley; and sister Mildred.
