Erv Mathiesen, 75

Erv Mathiesen, 75, of Blair, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at his home surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb.9, at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial will follow services in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation begins 3 p.m. Sunday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and an Eagle’s Memorial Service at 7 p.m.

Erv Mathiesen was born March 31, 1939, to Lloyd and Violet (Pullen) Mathiesen.

He graduated from Blair High School in 1956.

He married his high school sweetheart Marilyn Ruwe on March 12, 1957; to this union one son and three daughters were born. Marilyn died on June 19, 1981.

On Jan 10, 1998, he married Pam Liekhus and gained three sons.

Erv was a farmer and a brick layer. He worked for John Deere in Blair and worked for Tyson farms until his retirement in 2001. He was on the Summers school board.

He was an Eagle member in Blair and Elkhorn and was the Eagles’ Eastern Zone chairman.

He is survived by wife Pam, children: Ken Mathiesen of Gardner, Kan., Deb (Marv) Purcell of Logan, Iowa, Pam (Brett) Barnhart of Kennard, Kim Bland of Omaha, Patrick (Jennifer) Liekhus of Overland Park, Kan., Philip (Michelle) Liekhus of Omaha and Preston (Alisha) Liekhus of Blair; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife, Marilyn; his parents; and brothers: Lyle and Merle.
