ALFRED MENKING DIED IN CALIFORNIA

Alfred C. Menking passed away in Los Angeles, California May 24th after an illness of about three months.

A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Menking of Arlington, he had attended the school in that vicinity and grown to manhood. In September 1920 he was married to Miss Esther Carlson, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gus Carlson of the Dale vicinity. They resided in Arlington for several years and then moved to Omaha where they resided until moving to Los Angeles in 1942. Mr. Menking operated a service station at Olympic and Whittier Boulevards in Los Angeles for many years.

THURSDAY, MAY 30, 1963

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Lt. Col. Robert Menking of Fort Lewis, Washington and Rolland Menking of Monterey Park, California; sisters, Mrs. Ella Phieffer, Mrs. Carl Jensen, Mrs. L. W. Hall and Mrs. Ray Keeler, all of Arlington; Mrs. Lina Thompson of Norfolk and Mrs. Maybelle Wilkinson of Fremont. Also three brothers: Joe and Chet of Arlington and Rupert of Los Angeles. Mrs. Harold Taylor of Blair is a sister-in-law.

Services were held Monday afternoon in Los Angeles. Burial was made in Rose Hills Memorial Cemetery in Whittier.
