CORA A. MENKING, 75

Cora A. Menking, 75, of Fremont, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at the A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, with the Rev. Phil Alley officiating. Interment will be in the Arlington Cemetery.

Cora A. Menking was born Jan. 16, 1927, in Scipio, Okla., to John and Mattie (Ditzler) Vermillion. She grew up at Scipio and the McAlester, Okla., area. She moved to California and worked in several factories and did welding on ships.

In 1944, she married Richard L. Menking in California. After her marriage, she moved to Arlington, and then moved to Fremont in 1962. She returned to Arlington in 1965. She traveled throughout the United States until returning to Fremont in 1992.

She was employed at Overland Products in Fremont until her retirement in 1985.

She was a charter member of the V.F.W. Post No. 8332 Auxiliary in Arlington.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Cindy Menking; David and Susan Menking; and Donald and Cheri Menking, all of Fremont; and Joel and Carolyn Menking of Corpus Christi, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Nellie Mae; five brothers, Austin, Emmanuel, Walter and John Vermillion, and an infant.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
