DAVID MENKING

David E. Menking, 62, of Fremont died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
He was born April 27, 1947 in Fremont to Richard and Cora (Vermillion) Menking. He grew up in Fremont and attended Fremont High School. He then worked for Construction Union Local 1140 and also worked as a self-employed auto mechanic most of his life.
He married Susan Tillman on Sept. 27, 1969, in Fremont.
He was a member of Fremont Coin Club and Nebraska Catfish Anglers Association.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Chad (and wife Kelly) Menking of Prairie Village, Kan.; Rob (and wife Melissa) Menking of Waconia, Minn.; and James (and wife Dorothy) Menking of Uehling; a daughter, Kristy Menking of Underwood, Iowa; and three brothers, Richard Menking and Donald Menking, both of Fremont; and Joel Menking of Corpus Christi, Texas.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Scott Jensen, Fremont Area Medical Center chaplain, officiating. Visitation will be from 2 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials have been established to Arbor Manor and the American Diabetes Association.
