CHRISTINE JOHNSON MENTZER, 103
Memorial Services for Christine Johnson Mentzer, 103 of Blair who died March 28, 1995 at Crowell Memorial Home will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 3 at Crowell Memorial Home. Rev. Robert Meanor will officiate.
Christine Johnson Mentzer was born August 11, 1891 in Herman to Caroline and Olaf Johnson. She graduated from Herman High School and from Peru Women’s College with a degree in education. She also had a degree in counseling from the University of Southern California.
After graduation, she taught in rural Washington County before moving to Montana. She then moved to Los Angeles, California where she was a counselor in the largest high school in Los Angeles.
In the early 1930s, she married Cecil Robert Mentzer, a World War I veteran and real estate salesman.
She retired from counseling after 59 years and moved to Denver, Colorado in 1976. She moved to Crowell Memorial Home in Blair in 1986 to be near her relatives.
Her husband, Cecil preceded her in death, as did her parents and five nieces and nephews.
She is survived by nine grand-nephews; many great-grand-nephews; great-great-grand-nephews and nieces.
