WALTER W. MENZE, 95

Walter W. Menze, 95, of Fort Calhoun, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, in Fort Calhoun.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment is at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.

Walter W. Menze was born March 23, 1912 at Gresham to Henry and Meta Menze.

He married his wife, Verdayne, on Dec. 16, 1933, in Beatrice.

Mr. Menze spent several years as a master gardener with the Douglas County service. He was an accomplished pilot, as was his wife, and they enjoyed extensive travel in their private plane.

Mr. Menze had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for the past 35 years.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Agnes Menze of Fort Calhoun; and daughters-in-law, Betty Menze of Naperville, Ill., and Jeannine Menze of Jacksonville, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Verdayne in 1990; sons, Richard and Stanley; brothers, Edwin, Harold and Emmet; and sisters, Ruth and Laura.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
