Wayne Allan Anderson, 69

Wayne Allan Anderson, 69, of Blair, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Salem Covenant Church in Oakland. Burial will follow services in the Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair.

Wayne Allan Anderson was born in Oakland on Nov. 20, 1945.

After the death of his father in 1952, he and the family moved to Omaha to live with his maternal grandparents.

He attended Central Park Grade School, McMillan Junior High and graduated from North High School in 1964.

He enlisted in the Naval Reserves in 1962 and spent a month in basic training at Great Lakes, Ill., in 1963.

On July 14, 1964, he left for San Francisco, Calif., and was there for two years. He served time on the USS Procyon AF-61, a naval ship in the Pacific area. He received the Vietnam National Defense Service Medal for service on board the USS Procyon AF-61.

He met his future wife, Carolyn Lee Thompson, while in California, and after his discharge from the Navy, they were married on July 16, 1966, and returned to Omaha.

He began work with Omaha Public Power District on August 17, 1966, and retired as a working line crew leader in 2001 with 34 years of service.

In 1975, they moved to an acreage south of Blair, which enabled him to do some farming on the side and raise livestock. Farming was in his blood, and he got a lot of practice while spending the summers on the farm of his aunt Arlene and uncle Willard Johnson and family.

He and Carolyn were blessed with three children: Daniel, Tamra, and Michael, and eight grandchildren.

He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard.

Following his retirement in 2001, Wayne spent all of his time farming and helping and assisting family, friends and neighbors. He was the ultimate volunteer to help all in need. He loved his farming, camping, fishing and spending as much time as possible with his wife, children and grandchildren who brought him so much joy.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children: Daniel (Bobbi) Anderson of Blair, Tamra (Jimmy) Bartosh of Arlington and Michael (Dane’) Anderson of Blair; grandchildren: David, Ahnna, Jacqueline, Jake, Dalton, Colton, Duston and Shelton; his mother, Lorraine Anderson; his sister, Barbara (Eugene) Ericson of Valley; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Glenn Anderson; brother Warren Charles Anderson; grandparents: Elias and Esther Anderson and Lawrence and Ebba Holberg.
