Nancy C. Sorensen, 69

Nancy C. Sorensen, 69, of Blair, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at her home in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Committal will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha. Visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Nancy Caroline Allberry was born Aug. 30, 1945, in Ardmore, Okla., to Dwain and Betty Allberry.

Nancy grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1963.

She married Rick Dierks in 1967 shortly before Rick was deployed to Vietnam.

After the war, they lived in Spain, where Rick was stationed. While in Spain, Nancy gave birth to their oldest daughter, Heidi. They moved back home to farm in Bennington where they had two more children: Karin and Matt.

After relocating to Blair, Nancy lost Rick in 1987.

Nancy married Ron Sorensen in 1996.

Nancy and Ron had wonderful adventures traveling coast to coast. Nancy was an avid fan of Nebraska football. Nancy loved working in her gardens and yard. Most of all, she loved her family. Nancy was known for her generosity and helping those in need. She was a regularly employed substitute teacher by Blair High School from 1991-2014.

Nancy is survived by husband, Ron Sorensen of Blair; children: Heidi (Arnie) Wehmeyer of Nickerson; Karin (Doug) Pruess of Craig and Matt (Kitty) Dierks of Omaha; stepchildren: Peggy, Tom, Molly, Libby, Kate, Ron Jr., Janace, Chris and Alice; sister Marilyn (Reggie) Yates of Omaha; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; cousins and friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by father Dwain Allberry; mother Betty Allberry; first husband Rick Dierks; stepsons: Bill Sorensen and Andy "Soro" Sorensen; and stepgrandson "Jordy" Becker.
