ROBERT N. MESSER, 78

Robert N. Messer, 78, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at Westwood Hills Care Center.

A graveside service was Sunday, April 16, at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.

Robert N. Messer was born Oct. 3, 1920, to Alma (Baker) and Alonzo Messer in Joplin, Mo.

He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Hutchinson, Kan.

A truck driver for Guerdon Industries in Newton, Kan., he later owned and operated Bob and Sue’s Restaurant in Burton, Kan. He moved to Las Vegas upon retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sonja of Ankeny, Iowa; five daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Tim Jensen and Terry and Dale Paulsen, both of Blair; Donnie and Harvey Cannoles of Poplar Bluffs, Mo.; and Ginny Koehn of Prineville, Ore.; two sisters, Vivian Capehart of San Diego, Calif. and Evelyn Holmes of Salina, Kan.; and 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, George and Everett Yocum .
