(Photo) Cathleen Wiese, 79, of Blair, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at Crowell Home in Blair. Funeral services were Wednesday at Country Bible Church in Blair.

Cathleen Elizabeth was born to Elizabeth and Floyd Crom in Lyons. She grew up in several places in Burt and Washington Counties, later graduating from Tekamah High School in 1953.

She then attended Wayne State College and received her teaching certificate. She used her teaching ability and taught at many one-room country school houses in Burt and Washington Counties.

During the summer of 1955, she met Melvin J. Wiese. After dating for six months, they became engaged at Christmas and were married June 3, 1956.

The couple started their family in Tekamah, later moving to Irvington. In 1967, they moved into a new home in Bennington. In 1976, they moved to the acreage near Blair.

As Melvin and Cathleen raised their family, they instilled good, happy Christian beliefs in their children to take with them on their walks through life. Melvin and Cathleen made their church home at Country Bible where they grew in their faith.

Cathleen enjoyed caring for a variety of animals, and she also cultivated beautiful flower gardens.

She is survived by her children: Rodney Wiese and wife Joan of Oakland, Shawn Wiese of Nashville, Tenn., Luke Wiese and wife Phyllis of Blair, Elizabeth and friend Charles McCants of Franklin, Tenn., and Caroline and husband Dan Norton of Lyons; sister Nancy Pelley of St. Louis, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; son Garth David; sister Shirley McIntosh; and brother Howard Crom.

The family asks that memorials be directed to Crowell Home in Blair.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
