HENRY C. STABEN DEAD

Henry C. Staben, son of Hans Staben, who was buried in the Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska, July 16, 1913, was born on a farm near Coffman, June 28, 1885, which has always been his home. He was early schooled in the Coffman schools and graduated from Ft. Calhoun city schools.

He had a great love for his home and the farm and, while dying in Denver, kept writing home asking after his favorite horses and other animals and was particularly anxious about the fruit on a certain early fruiting apple tree that the birds were fond of.

When that insidious disease, consumption, had fastened upon him and there was no hope here, he was sent to Denver the first of May and later his parents telegraphed to Dr. Friedman, of New York, but when the reply came he was too weak to stand a R.R. trip.

The many friends of the family deeply sympathize with this hard working, kindly German family over their deep loss. In spite of the extreme heat, the busy harvest and the fearful dust, twenty-four carriages came in from the farm with the body. The funeral was held at the home, Rev. Earnest, of Bennington, officiated. W. H. Woods
