SERVICES HELD FOR FORMER BLAIR MAN

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 11, at St. Edward’s Presbyterian Church in St. Edwards, Nebraska, for Danny Stacy, 26, who died Saturday, August 8, 1981, when the motorcycle he was riding hit a power pole on a Columbus street. Burial was at St. Edwards.

Danny Stacy was born May 14, 1955 in Omaha. His parents are Vernon Stacy of St. Edwards, Nebraska and Mrs. Okey Fields of Pacifica, California.

He started high school in Blair but graduated from St. Edwards High School. He attended Wayne State College for two years in the pre-met program and was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity. He was also a member of St. Edwards Presbyterian Church.

He married the former Jean Zimmerman of Bancroft, Nebraska at Bancroft on January 20, 1978. They moved to Columbus about four years ago, when he was selling insurance with American Family Insurance at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; one son, Aaron, eight months old; and daughter, Erica, three years old, all of Columbus. His parents, Vernon Stacy, St. Edwards and Mrs. Okey Fields of Pacifica, California; five sisters, Cindy Garcia, Omaha; Diana (Mrs. Gene) Welchert, Blair; Melanie Stacy, Lisa Stacy, and Valerie Stacy, all of Pacifica, California; one brother, James Stacy, Pacifica, California; one half-brother, Timmy Stacy and one half-sister, Angela Stacy, both of St. Edwards, Nebraska; and a grandfather, Kit Stacy, St. Edwards also survive him.

Pallbearers for the service were Randy Boden, Todd Meredith, Phil Prorok, Rex Mahoney, George Werner, and Dave Markley.

Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity members were honorary pallbearers.

Dave Williams, a friend of Danny’s, sang for the services. Songs that were requested were “Fire and Rain” and “In My Life.”

Gas and Haney Funeral Home in Columbus was in charge of arrangements for the services.
