MR. STALCUP DEAD AT 81

BLAIRITE, A COUNTIAN OVER HALF A CENTURY, DIED LAST THURSDAY

Robert Lee Stalcup, 81, of Blair, a resident of Washington County more than 50 years, died last Thursday in Omaha. He had been ill for several months.

Funeral services were conducted at the Campbell Mortuary here at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Sidney L. McCaig, pastor of First Methodist Church, officiated. Interment followed in Kennard Cemetery. Mrs. William Byrd sang during the services.

Mr. Stalcup was born Nov. 27, 1868 at Shelbina, Mo. He came to Nebraska in the early 90’s and had spent most of his life as a farmer in this vicinity. He and Mrs. Stalcup had resided in Blair for a number of years.

Mrs. Stalcup was Minnie Virginia Sutton prior to the couple’s marriage, which took place Dec. 24, 1896. Mr. Stalcup joined the Methodist Church as a young man, and also belonged to John S. Bowen Lodge No. 232, A.F. & A.M., at Kennard.

Surviving him are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph A. Dunn of Piper, Ill.; a son, Chester A. Stalcup of Palos Park, Ill.; two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

ROBERT STALCUP RITES MONDAY Robert Lee Stalcup was born November 27, 1868 at Shelbina, Missouri, and passed away March 12, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 81 years.

He came to Nebraska in the early ‘90s and spent most of his life on a farm in this vicinity.

On December 24, 1896 he was married to Minnie Virginia Sutton. To this union were born two children.

During his younger days he united with the Methodist church, remaining a faithful Christian throughout his life. He also held membership in the Masonic lodge, John S. Bowen Post 232, at Kennard.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie, daughter, Mrs. Joseph Dunn of Piper, Illinois; son, Chester A. of Palos Park, Illinois; and two grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends who greatly mourn his loss.

Funeral services were held on Monday at 2 p.m. from Campbell Mortuary with Rev. Sidney L. McCaig officiating, and interment was made in the Kennard cemetery.
