BELVA G. STANLEY BURIED AT BLAIR FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Mrs. Belva G. Stanley, long-time resident of the DeSoto vicinity, died at Memorial Community Hospital last Wednesday, January 3rd. Funeral services were held Friday.

Mrs. Stanley, wife of Dr. George Stanley, was born near Bellevue, Nebraska, February 24, 1888. She was 84 years old.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Wild, early settlers of the DeSoto area. Mr. Wild was a horseman and veterinarian as well as a farmer and he carried on his practice on the farm on which Mrs. Stanley lived until her death.

The Stanley farm is located on Highway 73 immediately opposite the road which leads to the new O.P.P.D. nuclear power plant at DeSoto.

As a young woman, Mrs. Stanley taught school for a number of years. During that time she adopted a young lad whom she gave the name of Glenn Wild. He now lives at Scottsdale, Arizona.

She was married to Dr. George Stanley December 25, 1917 and the couple has lived on the parental farm all of their married life.

She is survived by her husband; by a daughter, Mrs. Nila Legenhausen of Blair; by a son Neil of Omaha; and her adopted son Glenn. There are ten grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the First Baptist church with the Rev. James Metzgar conducting the service. Burial, under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home, was made in the Blair Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Bender, Fritz Wolff, Roland Smith Jr., Robert McMillan, Keith and Joe McManigal.
