CAROL J. SORENSEN, 65

Carol J. Sorensen, 65, of Arlington, died July 19, 2001, at Valhaven Nursing Home in Valley.

Funeral services were July 21 at the Arlington Community Church with the Rev. Lynn Martin officiating. Interment was at the Arlington Cemetery.

Carol J. Sorensen was born May 22, 1936 in Oakdale to Oliver and Elizabeth (Ernesti) Hanen. She grew up in Oakdale and in Bonesteel, S. D. She moved with her family to Fremont in 1935 and then moved to Arlington in 1972.

She was married to Don Witthuhn on Jan. 22, 1955, in Blair. The couple later divorced.

She married Melvin L. Sorensen in Blair on Nov. 24, 1982. Her husband preceded her in death in 1999.

Mrs. Sorensen worked at the former O. P. Skaggs; Kentucky Fried Chicken; Brdicko’s Cleaners, all in Fremont; and also worked at the Douglas County Annex in Omaha and Marshall Nurseries in Arlington.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Roxanne Witthuhn of Arlington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Jerry Wesemann and Winnie and Terry Brokaw, all of Arlington; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Jeanette Hanen of Fremont; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Joan Hausman; brother, Sam Hanen; and a grandson, Randy Brokaw.

Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
