DON SORENSEN, FORMER BUSINESSMAN HERE, DIED FEBRUARY 23

Don Sorensen, a former Blair businessman, died at Lincoln last Wednesday, February 23rd. His death followed a long illness.

Donald James Sorensen was born at Kennard, November 24, 1917. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Sorensen who are remembered by many of the area’s older residents. He grew to manhood in the Kennard and Blair areas and married the former Jean Larsen.

As a young man he operated a plumbing and heating business in Blair. He originally worked for William Farnberg who operated a hardware and plumbing and heating establishment. Later he purchased the plumbing and heating business and operated it for a number of years.

He moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and in recent years has been affiliated with the E. O. Peters Co. Incorporated where he was a salesman of plumbing and heating supplies.

Death came at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; by a daughter and three sons. The daughter is Mrs. Dick (Julia) Spichal of Manhattan, Kansas; and by Tom Sorensen of Storm Lake, Iowa; John and Mark Sorensen of Lincoln. There are four grandchildren.

A sister, Mrs. W. P. (Elsie) Thompson, lives at San Diego, California.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 26th at the First Lutheran Church in Blair. The Rev. Robert Albers and the Rev. Richard Mickelson conducted the services.

Burial was made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary of Blair. Pallbearers were E. O. Peters, W. R. Lesoing, Sidney Campbell, Robert O’Brian, Carl Dietrich and Everett Green.

Members of the Hayne-Flynn American Legion Post of Blair, participated in the service.
