DORIS M. SORENSEN, 60

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 21 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard for Doris M. Sorensen, 60 of Kennard who died August 18, 1996. Rev. Chris Beyer and Rev. Kenneth Jensen will officiate. Burial will be in the Kennard Cemetery.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

Doris M. Sorensen was born May 10, 1936 in rural Kennard to Lloyd J. and Bertha Jensen Jacob. She attended March School and Kennard High School where she graduated in 1953.

She started teaching in the fall of 1953. She taught in the Lincoln, Wranch, Kennard and Fontanelle Schools before marrying Don Sorensen August 23, 1964 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard.

She attended Dana College and graduated in 1977.

She served as a teachers aide in the Arlington Schools and substitute taught in the area schools.

In 1984, she started working in the Kenanrd Post Office and also worked one year in the Omaha Post Office before retiring in 1992.

She was a member of the Emmaus Lutheran church in Kennard, Kennard Community Club and the Kennard Planning Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Don of Kennard; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jay Long of Blair; a son, Steve of Kennard; grandchildren, Jesse and Hannah; sisters, JoAnn (Mrs. Walter) Japp of Kennard and Ruth (Mrs. Gorlyn) Hagerbaumer of Hooper; and a brother, Herman Jacob of Arlington.

Casket bearers will be Lloyd Petersen, Donna Petersen, Charles Christensen, Lola Christensen, Ken Olson, Diane Olson, Ron Smith and Judy Smith.
