MRS. P. C. SORENSEN DIED SUNDAY AT GOOD SHEPHERD

Mrs. P. C. Sorensen, a longtime resident of Blair, died Sunday at the Good Shepherd Home where she had been a resident for the past ten years. Mrs. Sorensen was 98 years of age.

Dema Augusta Sorensen was born July 31, 1877 at Staplehurst, Nebraska , where she grew to womanhood.

On December 27, 1898, at the age of 22, she was married to Peter Christian Sorensen, known locally as P.C. Sorensen, and the couple moved to Blair where Mr. Sorensen entered the milling business. The couple made their home on West Park Street near their acquaintances in their church, at Dana College, and in other church related organizations.

Mr. Sorensen became active in city affairs, serving for a time as Councilman and later as Mayor. During these years, Mrs. Sorensen carried on her work as housewife and in the affairs of the church.

Her husband died ten years ago.

Mrs. Sorensen is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Martin O. Kuhr Sr. (Esther) of Blair; and by Mrs. Eleanor Burroughs of Golden, Colorado. There are seven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A brother, Rev. Andrew Svendsen also survives.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Albers and Rev. John Petersen conducting the service.

Burial was made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Martin, Leon, Melvin and Richard Kuhr, Harry Sorensen and Dr. C. C. Madsen.
