EUGENE “GENE” SORENSEN , 60

Eugene “Gene” Sorensen, 60, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died Monday, April 15, 2002 in Cincinnati.

Funeral services and interment will be Saturday, April 20 at the Spring Grove Chapel and Cemetery in Cincinnati.

Gene Sorensen was born April 28, 1942 in Blair to Carl and Rose Sorensen. He grew up in Blair and graduated from Blair High School in 1959. He received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and later received a degree in landscaping from the University of Cincinnati.

On May 13, 1962, he married Nila Sheets in Blair. The couple later divorced. In 1997 he married Marlene Meadors in Cincinnati.

Mr. Sorensen was retired from his long career as a design engineer for Proctor and Gamble in Cincinnati. He played piano in a jazz band during the 1970s and was also an avid tennis player.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; daughter Kristine Sorensen of Cincinnati; stepson Kevin of San Francisco, Calif.; his brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Tootie Sorensen of Blair; and his sister and brother-in-law, Rosalyn and Lyle Hansen of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
