HANS C. SORENSEN DIED HERE TUESDAY

Hans C. Sorensen, former Blair merchant and long-time resident, died at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair Tuesday, September 25th. He was 84 years old.

Mr. Sorensen was born in Jut-country in 1903 with two of his brothers. For many years he was engaged in the shoe repair business and to many of the older residents of the city he was a familiar figure on main street. He retired a number of years ago. Since that time he has made his home at 549 North 22nd street in north Blair.

He was married to Kristina Hansen in Eldora, Iowa on April 10, 1907. The couple moved to Blair in 1915.

He is survived by his wife, Kristina; by two sons, Harry and Carl, who operate the Blair Flour Mill; and by two daughters , Mrs. A. Dunlop (Lillian) of Casper, Wyoming; and Mrs. James Parrish (Alma) of Tulsa, Oklahoma. There are ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

P. C. Sorensen, one-time operator of the mill and former Blair Mayor is a brother.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 28, at 2:00 o’clock at the First Lutheran Church, the Rev. George Pallesen officiating. Burial will be made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Etlar Olsen, Bernard Paulsen, Clifford Hansen, Harald Schjodt, Eldred Kempcke, and Gudmond Sorensen.

(2nd paragraph: Some information seems to be missing. The sentence, “Mr. Sorensen was born in Jut-country in 1903 with two of his brothers.” doesn’t make sense. Could it be: “Mr. Sorensen was born in Jutland, Denmark and came to this country in 1903 with two of his brothers.” ?)
