SERVICES FOR MRS. SORENSEN TUESDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. LaVerne V. Sorensen will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum. Rev. Russell Saltzman will officiate with organist Opal Jensen and vocalist Jack Jensen. Burial will follow at Orum Cemetery.

LaVerne Viola (Paulsen) Sorensen was born Dec. 26, 1920 to Paul and Helena Paulsen at their farm home north of Blair. LaVerne was baptized at the First Lutheran Church in Blair. For several years, she taught Sunday School, was Sunday School Superintendent, and was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum.

She married Richard N. Sorensen of Blair August 11, 1944. They farmed in the Lincoln School area for several years before they moved to their new home west of Blair, raising their three children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Harvey and Bernard; one sister Fern; and a son-in-law Jerald Hansen.

LaVerne is survived by her husband Richard; son Harold of Blair; her daughter and son-in-law Marion and Richard Hansen of Blair; daughter Linda Hansen of Fremont; sister Myrtle Hansen of Blair; four grandsons and one granddaughter.

LaVerne, 63, was a member of the Thursday Afternoon Club. A prayer service was held Monday night. Pallbearers will be Dean, Dale, and Marvin Paulsen; Don and Roger Nelson; and Todd Cuddy.
