Leo H. Sorensen, popular young Blair farmer, passed away suddenly at the Veterans’ Hospital in Omaha early Sunday morning.

Although many of his close friends knew he had been in poor health for many months, none realized his condition was serious. Doctors attending him have stated that he suffered from a chronic kidney ailment for which he had been treated regularly.

Although the Sorensens lived in Blair, Leo was engaged in farming with his father, Hans Sorensen, south of Blair and had carried on his chosen work very successfully.

He was born at Staplehurst, Nebraska on August 12, 1918, and came to Blair with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans H. Sorensen, in 1928. He attended Pleasant View School and later Blair High School, graduating from the latter in 1936. In January of 1942, he enlisted in the United States Air Corps, served for a time in the European Theater of Operations and received his discharge in August 1944. On November 7, 1944, he was united in marriage with Miss Cornelia Pearson of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and the couple has made their home at 717 South Walker Avenue in this city.

Mr. Sorensen went to Veterans Hospital on December 18, 1952 for treatment for a chronic ailment, but had been returning to his home on weekends. His condition became critical several days before his passing.

Mr. Sorensen is survived by his wife; his two children, Sandra age 6, and Clark, 4; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans H. Sorensen; also three sisters, Lazelda Sorensen of Chicago, Illinois; Irene (Mrs. Eldred Kempcke) of Blair; and Leona (Mrs. Lloyd Jones) of Lexington, Nebraska; by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter H. Sorensen of Blair; and a large number of other relatives here, at Staplehurst and other places.

Mr. Sorensen was a member of Hain-Flynn Post No. 154 of this city.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, February 4, at First Lutheran Church, with Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating. The arrangements were in charge of the Campbell Mortuary, and burial was made in Blair Cemetery.
