LESLIE L. SORENSEN, 79

Arlington native Leslie L. Sorensen, 79, of Fremont, died Jan. 25, 2004 at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 29, at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont. Interment was in the Arlington Cemetery.

Leslie L. Sorensen was born June 7, 1924 in Arlington to Chris and Lovina (Winset) Sorensen. He grew up on the family farm east of Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School.

On Dec. 30, 1949k he married Dorothy Brinkman in Papillion.

He worked for his brother at Arlington Electric & Pumbling, then at Marshall Nurseries, for a number of years.

The family moved to Fremont in 1961. Mr. Sorensen worked for the state highway department for three years, then was employed by the city of Fremont street department until his retirement in 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Sorensen; Russell and Lori Sorensen; and John Sorensen, all of Fremont; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Russell Ahlers and Christine and David Stansberry, all of Beatrice; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Lila and Elmer Bartlett of Fremont; Alice and Richard Hayes of Topeka, Kan.; Phyllis and Dean Brunmeier of Omaha; and Kay and James Johnson of Chico, Calif.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Allan and Nadine Sorensen, and Paul and Joan Sorensen, all of Arlington.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary; two brothers, Melvin and Merle; and a sister, Margaret.

Ludvigsen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
