LOVINA SORENSEN DIED AT THE AGE OF 78

Services for Lovina Sorensen, 78, of Arlington, were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Arlington Community Church. The Rev. Bryce Hecht officiated.

Mrs. Sorensen died Thursday in a Valley nursing home.

She was born January 17, 1900, in Spencer, Iowa, and had lived most of her life in the Arlington Community. She had taught school in Arlington before her marriage.

Mrs. Sorensen also had served as the town librarian for several years.

She was a member of Arlington Community Church; Women’s Society of the Church; American Legion Auxiliary; and What-So-Ever Club.

She married Chris Sorensen January 7, 1920. He died May 29, 1950.

Survivors include sons, Melvin and Merle, both of Arlington; Leslie of Fremont; and Allan and Paul, both of Arlington; daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Lila) Bartlett of Valley; Mrs. Richard (Alice) Hayes of Topeka, Kan.; Mrs. Dean (Phyllis) Brunmeier of Omaha; Mrs. James (Kay) Johnson of Chico, Calif.; and Mrs. John (Margaret) Vitols of Omaha; a brother, Clarence Winset of Hawthorne, Fla.; sister, Mrs. Louis (Catherine) Ronkkin of Omaha; 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established for Arlington Community Church.

Services were in charge of Reckmeyer Funeral Home in Arlington. Burial was in Arlington Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ron, Kenneth, Steven and Russell Sorensen, Jerry Bartlett, and David Brunmeier.

Honorary pallbearers were Alfred Bartlett, Kevin, John, and Chris Sorensen, Dale, Randy, and Rodney Brunmeier, Jeffrey and Stacey Johnson.
