Roberta E. Keister, 60

There will be a memorial service Tuesday, November 29 at 2 p.m. at the Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair for Roberta E. Keister, 60 of Council Bluffs and a Blair resident for four years, who died November 24, 1994 at an Omaha hospital following a sudden, short illness.

The funeral was Sunday, November 27 in Coon Rapids, Iowa at the United Methodist Church.

Roberta E. Keister was born March 7, 1934 on the family farm near Bayard, Iowa to Delbert H. and Lillian Kinnick Ford. She was salutatorian of her Coon Rapids High School graduating class in 1952.

She married Bill Keister June 15, 1952. They ran Bill’s Studio and Sundries in Coon Rapids until 1965 when they moved to Council Bluffs.

She had been employed in insurance, mental health and personnel fields.

She graduated in 1980 from Beuna Vista College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. For the past five years she had worked for the Omaha Public Power District.

She was also active for several years in the Democratic Party.

While in Blair, she helped the elderly get seasonal things done and helped get toys and food to families in need around the Blair area at Christmas time. She was also a big supporter of festivities at Dana College.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Bill, Council Bluffs; a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Kenneth R. DeVilbiss, Louisville, Colorado; a son, Karl of Signal Hill, California; four grand-children, John DeVilbiss, Jason DeVilbiss, Michael DeVilbiss and Kayleen DeVilbiss, all of Louisville, Colorado, a brother, Dennis Ford of Jefferson, Iowa; an adopted sister, Patricia Joiner of Herman and a special friend, Carol Sigmann of Gold River, California.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the P.E.O. Continuing Education Fund.

Cutler Funeral Home in Council Bluffs was in charge of the arrangements there. Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements in Blair.
