Helen Kerstetter

Services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington on Wednesday, November 16, for Helen Kerstetter, 76, who died November, 13, 1983.

Dr. Norman Schroeder officiated. Burial was in the German Cemetery.

Helen Cecilia Marie Lamp Kerstetter was born May 17, 1907, to Emil and Christine Kahnk Lamp. She grew up on a farm north of Bennington and attended Dornacker School.

She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church on August 7, 1907. She confirmed her faith on April 19, 1922, at St. John’s.

She married Frederick Cornelius in 1923. In 1938, she married Earnest Kerstetter.

She was recognized by Ak-Sar-Ben for 100 years continuous family ownership of a farm in the same family. She was a member of the Cozy Corner Extension for 25 years.

In 1980, she entered Good Shepherd Home at Blair, where she resided until she was taken to Blair’s Memorial Community Hospital.

She was preceded in death by Frederick and Earnest.

She is survived by six children, Calvin Cornelius of Blair; twin sons, Keith Cornelius of Moville, Iowa, and Kermit Cornelius of Omaha; Clyde Kerstetter of Seattle, Washington; Stanley Kerstetter of Kennard; and Faye Kay (Mrs. Irvin) Kay of Kennard. Eighteen grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Lamp of Blair; other relatives and friends also survive her.

Casket bearers were Keith Cornelius, Mark Cornelius, Ronald Kerstetter, Kenneth Kerstetter, Glenn Kay and Merlin Kay.

Verna Kniep was organist. Joyce Johnson was vocalist.

Hadan Golden Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
