OLIVE E. SORENSEN, 83

Services for Olive Emma Sorensen, 83 of Fremont who died June 20, 1991 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha are 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25 at First Congregational Church in Fremont. Rev. Richard Siders in officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery.

Olive E. Unland Sorensen was born November 19, 1907 in Arlington. She graduated from Arlington High School and from Wayne State College in 1927.

She was a resident of Fremont most of her life. She was a bookkeeper for Sorensen Plumbing and Heating; Christensen Lumber Co.; Memorial Hospital of Dodge County; and Holiday Lodge prior to her retirement.

She was named Woman of the Year by the Fremont Evening Business and Professional Women’s Club in 1988; was 1974-76 president and was district director for the group. She was a lifetime member of the Parent-Teacher Association and served as local council president, unit president and state treasurer.

She was a charter member of the Fremont Flag Committee and helped start the “Avenue of Flags” on Military Avenue on federal holidays. She was secretary-treasurer of the Fremont Area Safety Council; a member of a garden club; the Memorial Hospital of Dodge County Auxiliary; and worked in the Look Nook there. She was a former Meals on Wheels driver; was a member of First congregational Church; and was secretary of the Women’s Fellowship there.

She married Angus Sorensen January 25, 1936 in Arlington. He preceded her in death June 13, 1958.

She is survived by a son, Stephen of Omaha; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
