PAUL SORENSEN

The funeral for Paul D. Sorensen, 70 of Arlington will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Fremont.

He died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006 at A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

He was born April 10, 1936 in Arlington to Chris and Lovina (Winset) Sorensen. He was a lifetime resident of Arlington. He was a 1954 graduate of Arlington High School. He previously worked at Marshall Nurseries; Bell Creek Trucking; Arlington-Hooper Transfer; State of Nebraska Road Department; Village of Arlington; French’s Oil Co.; and retired from the Fremont Department of Utilities in 1998. He also owned Paul & Jo’s Bar & Restaurant in Arlington, and after retiring, he worked part time at the Arlington Veterans Club.

He married Joan K. Peters on May 4, 1963 in Bennington.

He was a member of Arlington Community Church. He was a former member of the Arlington Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles at Fremont.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Paula (and husband Randy) Schneider of Arlington; a son, Chris (and wife, Sarah) Sorensen of Omaha; a brother, Allan (and wife Nadine) Sorensen of Arlington; four sisters, Lila (and husband, Elmer) Bartlett of Fremont; Alice (and husband, Richard) Hayes of Topeka, Kan.; Phyllis (and husband, Dean) Brunmeier of Omaha; and Kay (and husband, James) Johnson of Chico, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

The Rev. Burt Williams of Arlington Community Church will officiate Saturday’s service. Visitation will be from 2 – 8 p.m. today at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington with the family receiving friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.
