Ione G. Kern

Ione G. Kern, 91, died July 22, 1986 in her home. She was the daughter of Will and Minnie Hughes, born December 22, 1894 in Brown County in Robinson, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse, and sons Forrest and Dale.

Her early life was spent in Robinson, Kansas. She was married to Jesse S. Kern on March 22, 1916.

In 1943 they moved to Ainsworth where they lived until 1957. The next years were spent in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma until they moved to Blair in 1966 where she remained until her death.

She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the American War Mothers, Chapter 13.

Survivors include one son, Dayton of Naples, Florida; two daughters, Ruth Hansen of Blair and Mary Baker of Ainsworth; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Oaks of Dixon, Illinois; and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church on July 26 in Blair at 10 a.m., with Rev. John Ewton officiating.

Music was by Keith Hightree and Nancy Peck Hanson.

Pallbearers were five grandsons, Don Baker, Kenneth Baker, Gary Hansen, Richard Kern, Jere Kern and Dan Watts.

Burial was in the Blair Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
