ED ARKELL, 84, DIED AT CROWELL HOME MARCH 26

Ed Arkell, a long-time resident of the Blair area, died Sunday, March 26th at the Crowell Memorial Home. He was 84 years of age and was a resident of the Home where he died.

As a young man, Mr. Arkell was a heavy equipment operator. Most of his work was operating of cranes and he had a part in a number of construction projects carried out in this area in past years.

He was born at Westphalia, Iowa August 22, 1893 and came to Blair many years ago. The Arkell home was on east Washington street near Thirteenth street. His wife, the former Helen Thomas, preceded him in death.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs. Howard (Lola) Rhea, of Arlington and by a stepson, Ed Redding, of Cedar Creek, Nebraska.

A private family service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. and burial will be made in the Blair Cemetery.

Rev. Guy McClure, Superintendent of Crowell Memorial Home, will conduct the service and arrangements are in charge of Campbell Funeral Home.
