MRS. ED ARKELL DIED LATE FRIDAY

Mrs. Ed Arkell, long time resident of Blair, died at her home at 1352 Washington street Friday evening. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. The Blair Rescue Squad answered a call for assistance but she could not be revived.

Helen Arkell was born at Tekamah, Nebraska July 21, 1899 and was 67 years of age at the time of her death. She was married to Ed Arkell of Blair and the couple lived most of their married life in this city. She was a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and was one of the early Presidents of the organization. She held an active interest in the affairs of the Auxiliary through the many years she was a member.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Arkell, and by a daughter, Mrs. Howard Rhea, of Arlington and a son, Edward Redding of Omaha. There are two brothers, Clare Thomas of Ft. Calhoun and James Thomas of Tekamah. A sister, Mrs. Richard Christopher, lives at Portland, Oregon. Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held at the Campbell Mortuary Monday afternoon with the Rev. Elvin Bratten, of Arlington conducting the service. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenneth Redding, Rudy Fick, Roland Smith, Bill Blatter, Robert Macholan and William Rhea.
