William Kindred

#1-The body of William Kindred, whose death occurred at his home in Florence at 3 o’clock last Friday afternoon, was brought up here on the 3:15 train yesterday afternoon and taken direct to the cemetery for burial by the side of an only son who died while the family was living on the bottoms north of Blair. The body was accompanied by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. John Renniger, of Florence and Mrs. E. Drischoll, of Schaler, Ia., three brothers, Morris W. and James of Florence, and Dr. H.L. Kindred, of Meadow Grove, Neb., also a delegation from the Masonic lodge of Florence, who had charge of the burial service. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church at Florence at 12:30. Six brother Odd Fellows were the active pall bearers, he having been fire chief for many years. Mr. Kindred was foreman on the Omaha waterworks plant at Florence until he has taken down with Bright’s disease about a year ago. He was born in Lawrence county, Indiana, April 11th, 1854, and came to this county in 1868, settling on what is yet known as the Kindred farm, located nine miles north of this city. The Kindred school was also named after him. He was married there by Squire Beales to Miss Ida Tuttle on June 30th, 1878. Besides these mentioned he leaves one sister, Mrs. C.M. Broadwell, of Idaho, another brother, Burtis M., who lives in California, neither of whom were here. He was a nephew of S.C. Matthews, of this city.

William Kindred, 62 years, who farmed on the bottoms near Blair many years ago, died at his residence in Florence, Friday. He had resided there for the past twenty-four years and was a member of the Florence volunteer fire department. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. John Renniger of Florence, and Mrs. E. Driscoll of Iowa. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church at Florence, Tuesday, and the body was buried in the Blair Cemetery. The deceased was a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellows lodges.
