Richard F. Sorensen, 76, died Thursday, June 18, 2009 at his home in Omaha.

Funeral services were Monday, June 22, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Interment was in the Kennard Cemetery.

Richard F. Sorensen was born Dec. 23, 1932 in Kennard to Ola F. and Bonnnie (Dempsey) Sorensen.

He graduated from Kennard High School in 1950. He attended Dana College for two years, where he played football and baseball. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on Feb. 3, 1953. He served one year in Korea and was discharged Feb. 2, 1957.

After being discharged, Mr. Sorensen began working for AT&T at the Western Electric Plant in Omaha. He held several jobs there, retiring as an equipment tester in 1999, after 42 years of service.

He enjoyed skydiving, which he did from 1962 – 1973. He lived with his son, Steven, who also took up the sport. He enjoyed traveling around with Steve on weekend jumps.

Mr. Sorensen also enjoyed building and collecting model airplanes, sailing, and attending Christian Singles Club.

He is survived by his son, Steven of Omaha; daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and David Walton of Bellevue; three grandchildren, Amy, Kyle and River; and brother, Donald, also of Omaha.

SERVICES 10:30 Monday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Burial in the Kennard Cemetery; VISITATION begins 1 pm Sunday at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6 – 8 pm.
