DANA GRADUATE PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Ruth (Vedsted) Sorensen, 5601 2nd Avenue North, Great Falls, Montana, died of natural causes at a local hospital Monday, Feb. 25, at the age of 84. Born Oct. 19, 1900 in Staplehurst, Nebraska, she married Gudmond Sorensen in Staplehurst Sept. 22, 1922.

The couple farmed in the Staplehurst area and Ruth taught Sunday School. They later moved to Blair, where they farmed until retiring in 1974. During this time, Ruth graduated from Dana College.

In 1974, the couple moved to Great Falls to be with their daughter Loretta. Ruth was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church there.

Surviving are Ruth’s husband Gudmond and daughter Loretta of Great Falls; brothers Emmet Vedsted of Staplehurst and Ivar Vedsted of Downey, California; sisters Evelyn Goodell of Seward, Nebraska; and Esther Jacobson of Bermuda Dunes, California; and grandchildren, Renee Mullins of Great Falls and Brenda Riley of Tacoma, Washington. Ruth was preceded in death by two sisters.

Services were held Thursday, Feb. 28 at Faith Lutheran Church in Great Falls, with Rev. Stan Rosengren officiating. Burial was at Highland Cemetery. O’Connor Funeral Home made the arrangements.
