Axel Clausen, the young nephew of Mrs. E. C. Nelsen, who was so seriously ill with pneumonia last week, passed away Wednesday morning and was buried in Calhoun Friday. Another aunt, Mrs. Jacobsen, of Raymond, and his youngest brother, Harry, were present. It is sad when a young man is called but it is the will of God and no doubt the young man had fulfilled his task here. His father and stepmother, two brothers and one sister are left to mourn for him also several other relatives and scores of friends.

#2-Published in the Tribune April 18, 1918

The Ft. Calhoun City bank of which Samuel Clausen is a director, closed Friday afternoon and Cashier William Cook took his daughter and me to the funeral of Mr. Clausen’s son, who was probably born in Desoto Parish in 1896, and had lived so long at Coffman that he had become among the best respected young men in the neighborhood of Coffman, and as he was to be best man at his older brother’s wedding the day he died. It is seldom that the death of a young man on a farm will be regretted by so many people. There was so many people at the house that we only counted the autos. There were 85 autos at the house and 68 went to the cemetery. The pastor of the Omaha Kuhn’s Memorial preached the sermon.
