A Memorial service was held at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home with private committal at the Fort Calhoun Cemetery Friday, June 1 for Gordon Dale Clausen, 65 who died May 27, 1990 shortly before midnight.

Gordon Dale Clausen was born September 5, 1924 to Arthur and Mamie Sorensen Clausen. He was raised in Fort Calhoun and graduated from Fort Calhoun High School.

Following graduation, he went into the United States Marine Corps and saw action in the Pacific during World Was II. He was injured twice, at Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He returned to Fort Calhoun to farm, which he did until 1970, when he was struck by meningitis, followed by a stroke.

He married Doris Sundell on June 21, 1947. They had three children, Cynthia, Kent and Art.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Art Clausen Jr., and Ralph Clausen and by his wife, Esther Bunn.

He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Mrs. Gregory) Romaine of Manila, Philippines; two sons, Kent Clausen and Art Clausen, both of Fort Calhoun; and three grandchildren, James Romaine, Jeremy Clausen and Nicky Clausen.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for the services.
