DEATH OF MRS. E. J. CLAYCOMB

Mrs. Emeline J. Claycomb died Dec. 9, 1918 at the home of her niece Mrs. L. M. Utterback. The funeral was held at the Congregational Church Wednesday afternoon, Elder J. E. Hammond of Omaha, officiating.

Emeline Burgess was born near Hardinsburg, Ky., June 4, 1846. She was married to Henry Robertson March 7, 1872 and this union three children were born, Charles Henry having died in infancy. Also her husband died ten years later.

She was married to Taylor Claycomb March 1884. To them were born three sons.

Five children are left to mourn her loss; Mrs. Ada McKillip, Humphrey, Nebr., Mrs. Lillie Gaines of Arlington, Oscar, Scottsbluff, Nebr., James of Camp Devens, Mass. and Earl, of Washington D. C. Also six grandchildren, three sisters and one brother. Mrs. C. H. Seaton, of Hotchkiss, Colo., Mrs. Mattie Pate, Council Bluffs, Ia., Mrs. L. E. Vorhees (sp?) of California and J. B. Burgess of Kennard.

She was a member of the Church of God and lived faithful to the hope of the Gospel. She was laid to rest in the Kennard Cemetery.

Mrs. D. J. McKillip was called here the first of the week by the illness and death of her mother, Mr. J. E. Claycomb. She was accompanied by her daughter, Miss Edith.

News of the death of Mrs. J. E. Claycomb was given out Monday evening Dec. 9. Facial neuralgia being the direct cause. A complete obituary will follow next week.

The funeral of Mrs. Claycomb will be held in Arlington Wednesday afternoon and internment made at Kennard. It had been intended to hold services here but as a closing “flu” order is on again it was decided to have them in Arlington. Most of the people in this vicinity knew Mrs. Claycomb, she is a half sister to Mr. J. B. Burgess and another sister, Mrs. Pate, is seriously sick at Council Bluffs.
