MARTHA L. ARMSTRONG, 93

Martha L. Armstrong, 93, of St. Joseph, Mo., died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Living Community Health Care of St. Joseph.

Funeral services were Saturday, March 19, at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa, with interment at Soldier Valley Cemetery in Pisgah, Iowa.

Martha Lucy Armstrong was born Sept. 3, 1911, in Elk, Wash., to William and Bertha (Smith) McCracken. She graduated from Little Sioux Consolidated School in 1930.

On June 1, 1931, she married Earl Armstrong in Logan, Iowa. The couple farmed together in Pisgah, Iowa, until her husband’s death in 1980. Mrs. Armstrong then moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where she lived with her daughter. For the past six years, she has been a resident of Living Community Health Care in St. Joseph, Mo. She was an active member of the Christian Church all her life. She enjoyed reading and traveling.

She is survived by her sons, Gene of New Boston, Texas; Gary of Guthrie, Okla.; Tom of St. Joseph, Mo.; Craig of Perry, Okla.; and Tim of Blair; daughters, Nancy of St. Joseph, and Pam Ulmer of Mansfield, Penn.; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, five sisters, and two half-sisters.
