Francine Sylvis, 91, of Bozeman, Mont., died March 28, 2007, at Edgewood Vista in Belgrade, Mont. Graveside servies are planned for 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Bozeman.

Francine Adeline Claire Ericksen was born May 1, 1915, in Herman to Frank and Orinda (Cram) Ericksen. She grew up on the family farm. She attended school in Blair and graduated from Blair High School in 1932.

On May 25, 1934, she married William N. Sylvis in Beatrice. During the early '50s, the couple moved to Cherry Creek near Norris, Mont., where they ranched and farmed the Wylie and Butler ranches, which were leased from the Flying D. Corporation. In 1954, they moved into Bozeman.

Mrs. Sylvis was employed for more than 30 years with the F.W. Woolworth Company as the manager of the lunch counter. Upon retirement, she kept active with numerous organizations including the Red Cross, where she was honored for her many years of service.

She is survived by her children, Russell and Libby Sylvis of Bozeman, Sharon and Edgar Icenoggle of Belgrade, Mont., and Charles and Joann Sylvis of Redmond, Wash.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; four brothers, John, Jesse, Ivan, and Charles Ericksen; and four sisters, Anne Hadlund, Ruth Sprick, Edith Hancock, and Julia Detmer.
